Travel Training - Helping to get people out and about again
Age Concern Manchester has trained volunteers waiting to work with older people, giving them the support, skills and encouragement they may need to be able to use public transport independently. If you would like to be able to go to social events, shopping or appointments and just need a little bit of help to make that first journey, then please contact Julie Hussey at Age Concern Manchester on 0161 223 6062.
Walking for health
The Physical Activity Referral Service organises and leads weekly health walks across Manchester. Walks last up to an hour and are led by trained walk leaders. Walking can make you feel good, give you more energy and reduce stress as well as reduce blood pressure. Community Transport (CT)
GMPTE are holding a best practice seminar on Community Transport (CT) on
3rd September. With GM Community Transport Forum, GMPTE have been
developing robust monitoring and evaluation systems and have established
a Quality Framework for CT (attached) and a Vehicle Management System.
The partnership wish to share information and good practice gained with
other professionals working in the sector. Further details are attached.
