North West Health Delegation to Brussels
The North West Health Brussels Office is delighted to announce that it will be hosting its annual North West Health Delegation to Brussels on 20/21/22 November 2006.
The delegation will aim to bring participants up to speed with health related activities at EU level through a comprehensive set of presentations and workshops based in Brussels. Participants will be afforded the unique opportunity to meet, listen to and question high level European Commission officials and a North West of England MEP from the European Parliament.
High profile non governmental organisations such as the European Public Health Alliance will be presenting their priorities and workings for 2007 and the incoming German Presidency of the EU will identify its health related priorities. This delegation promises to be extremely informative and will allow participants to engage with EU officials and decision makers, whilst increasing their understanding of EU health issues, the North West Health Brussels Office and its role in EU Health advocacy.
In conjunction with this visit, the North West Health Brussels Office will also be organising and chairing the next EU Brussels Offices Health Event on the 20 November. This event is designed for the EU regional Offices based in Brussels and will be held in the Committee of the Regions. The aim of this event is to discuss, from a regional perspective, the proposed European Healthcare Framework, the German Presidency of the EU and the Future of European Health Policy 2007-13. The speakers at this event will include:
- Nick Fahy – Deputy Head of Health Strategy Unit, DG Health and Consumer Protection, European Commission
- Björn Kümmel – Ministry of Health, Berlin – German Presidency of the EU 2007
- Dr Bernard Merkel – Head of Health Strategy Unit, DG Health and Consumer Protection, European Commission
