Promoting better travel to health centres
GMPTE and North Manchester Primary Care Trust were jointly involved in a project based at the Newton Heath Health Centre. The aim of the project was to investigate travel and access patterns of staff and clients at a local health establishment.
The Primary Care Trust was keen to support a community based project that would benefit the health of the local community. The project monitored and supported walking, cycling and increased public transport use to help staff with aim of helping staff and clients to achieve healthier life-styles and reduce local traffic pollution. The centre also has limited car parking space.
This toolkit is a record of the work that was undertaken at the centre, the team’s findings and recommendations.
