The
new face of Cyclescheme .co.uk
|
|

|

Cyclescheme
has been at the forefront of the Cycle to Work initiative for many years
now and, over time, we’ve picked up a few ideas along the way from the
employees who have participated in the scheme, the employers who run them
and our vast network of partner stores.
For many cycling to work it isn’t just about what bike you
can get, where you can get it from and how much it will cost. Many have a
vested interest in how their cycle to work is helping the environment,
helping them get fit and supporting their local economies. Read

A recent research
project undertaken to gain a better understanding of the health and
environmental benefits of the Cycle to Work scheme received an
unprecedented response from employers and scheme participants alike,
providing positive feedback that highlights numerous benefits and
motivations beyond simply reducing the cost of getting a bike.
The project was conducted by the Cycle to Work Alliance

Cyclescheme
lands in the emerald isle

The Republic
of Ireland (ROI) offers tax concessions to employers wishing to run a
cycle to work scheme similar to that in the UK, and Cyclescheme is
expanding to help ROI employers get their employees on two wheels.
The scheme is
intended to cut congestion, reduce pollution and boost fitness; with
existing levels of cycling peaking at a lowly 2%, the Irish government
hopes to reach a target of 10% by 2020 and the cycle to work scheme is
just one of several measures intended to achieve this goal. The move
towards cycling is already an emerging trend, with a 17% rise in cycling
trips into Dublin, and the government scheme aims to build on that. Read more...

Scheme
eligibility: Who can take part in the scheme?
|
|

|

Each
Cyclescheme monthly newsletter will focus on one of our Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs); this month we’re looking at scheme eligibility for
employees.
Previous HMRC Employment Income Manual (EIM) updates and
Department for Transport (DfT) Cycle to Work Scheme guidance have stated
that bicycles and safety equipment must be ‘available generally to all
employees’ via the scheme for the tax exemption to apply. But what
does ‘available generally’ actually mean? Read more...

New
Cyclescheme Partner Stores
|
|

|

At Cyclescheme we are always looking to expand our already
extensive network of Partner Stores. Over the past months we are
extremely pleased to announce the following stores have signed up to
Cyclescheme!
Although Cyclescheme has virtually every
independent bicycle dealer around the country signed to our scheme, with
the rising popularity of cycling there are new stores opening constantly.
We proactively contact these shops to form a partnership with us;
however, if you wish to use a newly established independent bicycle
dealer that is not already signed up to Cyclescheme, you need only
contact our Partner Shop Liaison Team and we shall contact the store
promptly to arrange their partnership with us and inform you directly. Read more...

Sweat Cycling
|
|

|

Follow these
guidelines and you’ll arrive at the office neither hot nor bothered!
For many
people the worry when embarking on a new adventure in commuting is not
traffic or fitness: it’s turning up at work all puffed out and sweaty.
The office is a place for crisply ironed shirts and sharp suits. The walk
to the photocopier should be a head-turning exercise demonstrating style
and elegance…not a walk of shame accessorised with helmet hair, streaky
foundation face and a skunk-like trail of eau-de-armpit! Read more...
